This route takes you from Nopparat Thara to Tup Kaek and back via Ao Nam Mao and Ao Nang. Start early and you will have enough time to enjoy each of the beaches. As the trip is not too far you may want to come back to your favourite spot.
Rents for motorbikes start at 180 Baht per day, depending on the duration of the lease. Cars start at 1.000 Baht per day. Ask any of the travel agents along the road for a rental car. Alternatively you can find Avis, Budget and Hertz at the airport upon arrival. Hertz has a subsiudiary in Ao Nang. Cars can also be rented with a chauffeur if you do not want to drive yourself. Most Travel Agencies also rent motorbikes or just ask at the front desk of your accommodation.
Go down along Nopparat Thara Beach and turn right at the end.
From there you you follow the road until you see the King Kobra Show on your right. Turn left opposite and follow the H4034 towards Nong Thale.
Just after Nong Thale you take a left towards Nopparat 2 - Long Beach. A sign that reads Private Beach will guide you there. Here time stood still. There still is no electricity and power is only available at certain hours a day. Have some refreshments at one of the bungalow sites at Long Beach. Then take the road back up to the H4034 turn left and go to Kong Muang.
Klong Muang consists of three bays. the first one is the one that leads to the Royal Palace, the second is on Klong Muang Main Beach and the third one is in the bay at Sofitel Resort. Getting into Klong Muang take the dirt road down to Ruam Siam Restaurant and enjoy a snack down by the beach or take a massage right next door. For those of you who want some ice cold beer, why not stop at Paddy´s, Jo´s Kitchen or Sabai-Ba Bar at the beach.
From Klong Muang you follow the road towards the North and it will take you right to Tup Kaek. Here you find the fancy Hotels and Resorts. However, the beach is not private and you can go down any time just in front Sunset Resort. At the end of the road after Amari Resort there is a National Park from where you can hike to a secluded bay. The restaurants at all the resorts in Tup Kaek, except Phulay Bay, welcome walk-ins.
Going back to Ao Nang you take the same road back, pass Nong Thale and the turn right and follow the road to the King Cobra Junction. Take a left here and follow Nopparat Road until it turns right on H4201. this road leads you back towards Ao Nang. Just at the beginning of the village you take a left on H4203 the sign leads you to Shell Fossil Beach. Follow the road until you reach the big roundabout, keep right and go for another 5 km until the road ends at Susan Hoi.
It is not worth paying the entrance fee to get to the fossils. Anyway it is a nice place to have a pick nick and see the vendors selling shells. From Shell Fossil Beach you go back to the big roundabout in Ao Nam Mao. Turn left and follow H4203 to Ao Nang.
Why not have a coffee at Krisda Villa before going to Ao Nang
At the next t-junction you turn left toward the ocean and pass bustling Ao Nang. Here you find Mac Donald, Burger King and various fast food restaurants along with nice Thai places. Try Ao Nang Oldest Restaurant, Ao Nang Cuisine and have a sip of your favourite drink with your feet in the sand at Last Fisherman or if you walk a bit farther at The Last Cafe. You can have a massage by the beach if you want. The road along the beach takes you across the small bridge after Krabi Resortback to Nopparat Thara.
