This route takes you to the famous Tiger Cave Temple - Wat Tham Sua, to Krabi´s Black Beach - Hat Yao. And on the way back you can explore Krabi Town.
Rents for motorbikes start at 180 Baht per day, depending on the duration of the lease. Cars start at 1.000 Baht per day. Ask any of the travel agents along the road for a rental car. Alternatively you can find Avis, Budget and Hertz at the airport upon arrival. Hertz has a subsidiary in Ao Nang. Cars can also be rented with a chauffeur if you do not want to drive yourself. Most Travel Agencies also rent motorbikes or just ask at the front desk of your accommodation.
From Ao Nang follow the H4203 that takes you out of the village, pass Mc Donalds, the post office and turn right to Shell Fossil Beach on H4203. At the big roundabout turn left on H4204, follow the road until you get to the T-junction (PTT petrol station on your right), turn right into 4034. Follow the road and turn left at the first traffic light (Shell Petrol Station on your left). Then turn right into H4 towards Trang.
At the third set of traffic lights, before Big C, you already see the sign Wat Tham Sua , take a left and after 2 kms you see the entrance of the temple to your left. Beware of the many monkeys that are eager to steal things from you. Do not feed them or try to pet them they easily become aggressive. The fit travellers can now climb up 1,272 uneven steps up to the temple at the summit. Alternatively there is a flight of steps just behind the Chinese Pagoda, these will take you into a small valley where you can admire 100 years old trees and the lush rainforest with its inhabitants. Small huts along the way serve the monks as meditation points.
Take the same road back just up to the Highway H4. Turn left and follow the road to Nua Klong. At the second traffic light take a right to Koh Siboya and Koh Jum. Follow the road for another 10 kilometers and you can see the ocean. You can park at one of the three resorts, have some refreshment and take a long walk on the beach or have a dip in the sea. At Hat Yao there is no tourist infrastructure besides the three resorts.
Go back the same way and turn left on H4. At Talad Kao Junction you turn left and follow the road into Krabi Town. Krabi Town, which calls itself lively town - lovely people can best be explored on foot. Park your vehicle at the temple and start your stroll through Krabi Town. Do a Mangrove Tour, eat local food by the old pier, enjoy good seafood by the water and just enjoy local life.
