Susan Hoi (Gastropod Fossil) is a Seashell Graveyard. This tourist attraction has slates of compressed seashells 20 to 40 million year old which look a bit like concrete.
There is a small museum too and a long row of gift shops. This shell graveyard at Ban Leam Pho was once a large freshwater swamp, home to a kind of snail. With changes on the surface of the earth these snails lived and died by the million. The layer of fossilized snail shells was forty centimeters thick resting on ten centimeters of lignite below which is the subsoil. Entry is 200 Baht for foreigners, 20 Baht for Thais. This "attraction" is not worth the 200 Baht, unless you are a geology student.
