Small huts along the way serve the monks as meditation points.
Wat Tham Sua (Tiger Cave) (Wat Tham Sua (Tiger Cave)) (Krabi)
Wat Tham Sua is also known as Tiger Cave. Inside the cave there are what appears to be tiger paw prints in the stone. It's situated in the middle of a lush forest with enormous and ancient trees.
The surrounding area is covered with large trees most of them hundreds of years old, particularly in the Khiriwong Valley. Mountains are on all sides and there are many smaller caves. Walk straight through and take the steps to your left, opposite the white Buddha statue. The main tourist attraction in the temple complex is the 1,272 step climb up a limestone mountain to see the footprint of the Buddha. Even if you are in good shape the heat and humidity make this a difficult hike. Once you make it to the top, you are rewarded with stunning 360 degree view of the surrounding countryside and the Andaman Sea.
Wat Tham Sua is 9 km. north of Krabi Town.

Krabi Town, which calls itself lively town - lovely people can best be explored on foot. Park your vehicle at the temple and start your stroll through Krabi Town. Do a Mangrove Tour, eat local food by the old pier, enjoy good seafood by the water and just enjoy local life.
Bantoey Restaurant near the Krabi River just before the Marina, has a lovely sunset view. The Restaurant offers authentic Thai Cuisine, especially fish and seafood dishes. Also non fish eaters find a good choice on the menu, i.e. Mo Thod Bai Makrut (fried pork with kaffir lime leaves) or Phat King Gai (stir fried chicken with vegetables and ginger). The staff speak hardly any English, however they are friendly and attentive.
Right in the center of Krabi you can find a large intact mangrove forest and a canal system running through it.
Mangroves are a specious Eco-system at coastlines and rivers. Fish, crabs, snakes, kingfishers, otters and monkeys inhabit mangroves. They can grow up to 20 meters and with their roots they protect the coastlines from erosion.
