This route takes you from Krabi Town to Tup Kaek, along Krabi´s most famous beaches. So start early and you will have enough time to enjoy each of the beaches. As the trip is not too far you may want to come back to your favorite spot.
Rents for motorbikes start at 180 Baht per day, depending on the duration of the lease. Cars start at 1.000 Baht per day.The car rentals are located at the airport. You can find Avis, Budget and Hertz as well as local companies such as Krabi Car Rent. Cars can also be rented with a chauffeur if you do not want to drive yourself. Most Travel Agencies also rent motorbikes or just ask at the front desk of your accommodation.

From Krabi Town you go to the junction of Maharat Road and Krabi road. You take Krabi Road and just follow it until the junction with H4034. Take a left and follow the road. Turn left at the PTT gasoline station to H4204. The sign directs you to Fossil Shell Beach. Follow the road, take a left at the roundabout until the road ends at Fossil Shell Beach. It is not worth paying the entrance fee to get to the fossils. Anyway it is a nice place to have a pick nick and see the vendors selling shells.
Why not have a coffee at Krisda Villa before going to Ao Nang
Krisda Restaurant belongs to Krisda Villa guest house and is situated in a small, nicely decorated garden next to the guest house. The guests can see local fruit and vegetables growing, such as chilli, watermelons and pineapples. The restaurant serves Thai food and Western snacks.

Susan Hoi (Gastropod Fossil) is a Seashell Graveyard. This tourist attraction has slates of compressed seashells 20 to 40 million year old which look a bit like concrete.
There is a small museum too and a long row of gift shops. This shell graveyard at Ban Leam Pho was once a large freshwater swamp, home to a kind of snail. With changes on the surface of the earth these snails lived and died by the million. The layer of fossilized snail shells was forty centimeters thick resting on ten centimeters of lignite below which is the subsoil. Entry is 200 Baht for foreigners, 20 Baht for Thais. This "attraction" is not worth the 200 Baht, unless you are a geology student.
Susan Hoi (Gastropod Fossil) is located 17 km from Krabi Town and about 7 km west of Ao Nang.
From Shell Fossil Beach you go back to the big roundabout in Ao Nam Mao. Turn left and follow H4203 to Ao Nang. turn left at the next t-junction and the road leads you through bustling Ao Nang. Pass Mcdonalds and the road takes a right bend and leads you along the beach to Nopparat Thara. Have lunch in one of Ao Nang's oldest restaurants, Ao Nang Cuisine. They offer a culinary mix of Thai - Chinese Cuisine overlooking the ocean. Want to go scuba diving? - check out Poseidon Dive Academy whilst you are in Ao Nang.
Ao Nang Cuisine is a Thai Chinese Restaurant located on the Beach Road. This Thai restaurant also offers seafood and during high season a BBQ. Friendly and attentive staff. Ao Nang Cuisine, former Mama's Kitchen was the first restaurant on Ao Nang Beach Road. Managed by a Thai Chinese couple always referred to as Mama and Papa. They have retired now and their rather shy son is continuing the business with the same perfection that can not be taken for granted in Thailand.

Nopparat Thara is rather quiet compared to Ao Nang and is frequented by Thais especially on the weekends. You find loads of food vendors along the road and Thais pick nicking on the beach. If you want to enjoy fresh seafood, stop at Krua Thara after Tsunami, at the end of Nopparat Thara Beach. From there you you follow the road until you see the King Cobra Show on your right. Turn left opposite and follow the H4034 towards Nong Thale.
Kruathara After Tsunami (ครัวธารา) (NopparatThara)
Krua Thara after Tsunami is the most popular Seafood Restaurant at the end of Nopparat Thara. The Seafood is nicely presented and the employees are very friendly. Try the fresh oysters with chili, garlic and deep fried onions.
Just after Nong Thale you take a left towards Noppaarat 2 - Long Beach. A sign that reads Private Beach will guide you there. Here time has stood still. There still is no electricity and power is only available at certain hours a day. Have some refreshments at one of the bungalow sites at Long Beach. Then take the road back up to the H4034 turn left and go to Kong Muang.

Pop into Giant Catfish Farm on your way to Klong Muang.
The Giant Catfish Farm is outside Ao Nang on the road to Klong Muang. Giant Catfish Farm is a 7 rai nature park. The beautiful park has numerous ponds with 20 different kinds of fish, including some of the biggest catfish in South Thailand. Your walk through the park leads you over swing bridges and you can get a good overview of southern Thailand's flowers and plants. There are also turtles. crocodiles, scorpions and local insects on display.After the walk through the park you can take a dip in one of the Jacuzzi shaped pools. Entry Fee 50 baht for adults and 30 baht for children, including fish food.

Klong Muang consists of three bays. the first one is the one that leads to the Royal Palace, the second is on Klong Muang Main Beach and the third one is in the bay at Sofitel Resort. Getting into Klong Muang take the dirt road down to Ruam Siam Restaurant and enjoy a snack down by the beach or take a massage right next door. For those of you who want some ice cold beer, why not stop at Paddy´s, Jo´s Kitchen or Sabai-Ba Bar at the beach.
Ruam Siam is located on the beach. Wide choice of Thai Dishes, also some European Snacks are offered. The Restaurant offers inviting deckchairs to enjoy the sunset. The massage sala next door also belongs to the restaurant.

From Klong Muang you follow the road towards the North and it will take you right to Tup Kaek. Here you find the fancy Hotels and Resorts. However, the beach is not private and you can go down any time just in front of Sunset Resort. At the end of the road after Amari Resort there is a National Park from where you can hike to a secluded bay. The restaurants at all the resorts in Tup Kaek, except Phulay Bay, welcome walk-ins.

Going back to Krabi you have to take the same route. You go through Klong Muang, then you turn right and follow the road on H4034, which takes you back into Krabi Town.
