In and around Ao Nang there are many things to explore. Krabi province offers more than just a beach holiday. For those who want to spend an active vacation there are many things to do.
Long tail Boat Trips
Take one of the long tail boats moored along the beach to Koh Poda and Chicken Island (Koh Kai) or book a Four Island trip with any of the tour agents in Ao Nang. Enjoy the crystal clear water of the Andaman Sea. If you want an unforgettable private, guided long tail boat tour, or camping trip to one of the uninhabited islands, we recommend contacting Andaman Camp and Cruise.
Koh Poda has a lovely white sandy beach with crystal clear water. The waters around Koh Poda are suitable for swimming, snorkeling and sunbathing.
It is worth a day trip from the mainland. Longboats anchoring along the beach offer snacks and Thai dishes. The island is privately owned and a bungalow site belonging to Krabi Resort offers bungalows for those who want to explore the Robinson Crusoe feeling on the island.
Koh Poda is situated south of Ao Nang, 8 km offshore.
Koh Kai is an amazing natural lime stone island resembling the body of a chicken crouching in the water.
One end of the island consists of steep cliffs while the other end has beautiful beaches along a peninsula. At low tide you can walk across the sandbank to the very tiny island of Thalay Waek. The warm and clear water is ideal for swimming. There is no accommodation on the island. A little food stall and toilets are the only amenities on the island.
The dive spots in Krabi province are renowned throughout the world.
Dive Schools also take snorkelers on board. Do not miss the unforgettable experience of snorkeling in the Andaman Sea, if you cannot or do not want to dive.

Elephant Riding
One of the most popular things to do, when in Thailand is elephant riding. You can experience unspoilt nature from 'great heights' on top of an elephant's back.
Ao Nang with its local islands are made for kayaking. The most basic option is to rent a sea kayak by the hour from Ao Nang beach, which allows you to explore the coast near where you are staying.
Or take the unforgettable day or half day trip to Koh Hong and Ao Tha Len.
Koh Hong lies opposite Klong Muang. The island is uninhabited and part of the National Park.
Hong means room, and indeed, the island has a room, a spectacular lagoon - high cliffs enclosing an emerald pool, which is ideal for snorkeling. At the main beach of the island a ranger will ask you to pay 200 Baht entrance fee (children 100 Baht). If you do not want to pay this amount, ask the captain to go to one of the other 2 beaches on the outside of the island where swimming and sunbathing is free.
