Local Transport in Ao Nam Mao

Motorbike Taxis

In  Ao Nam Mao motorbike taxis, the handy motorbikes with side cars can be stopped along the road.
In Ao Nam Mao the price is 40 Baht minimum or 20 Baht per person.
Going to Ao Nang is 80 Baht minimum or 40 Baht per Person.

Songthaews

Pick-ups, so called Songthaews, go to Krabi every 30 minutes for 50 Baht one way, just stop one on the road. They also go to Fossil Beach for 20 Baht one way.




Taxis

Taxis can be booked through your hotel. They do not have metres but fixed prices:

500 Baht to Krabi Airport,
300 Baht to Krabi Town,
500 Baht to Klong Muang,
700 Baht to Tup Kaek or Ao Tha Len,
2000 Baht to Koh Lanta,
3000 Baht to Khao Lak.
Transfers to Phuket Airport can also be arranged for approx. 2500 Baht.

 
Long tail boats

The long tail boats leave the pier in Ao Nam Mao to Rai Leh for 30 Baht one way and to Koh Poda or Chicken Island for 300 Baht return. The boatmen wait until they have at least 6 passengers per boat.
Rent a Car

Most travel shops or your hotel can organize a rental car for you. There is a Hertz agent at the road leading to Ao Nang. This list gives  you an idea of the prices, Thai Rent a Car has its branch at Sunda Resort, Nopparat Thara.

Rent a motorbike

Motorbikes can be rented in Ao Nang or at your hotel. Scooters are between 200 and 250 Baht per day depending on the duration of the rent. You need to hand in your passport or pay a deposit of 10.000 Baht.
