Along Bang Niang Beach there are many bamboo huts with a platform for massage. The massage ladies have mostly learned their job at Wat Pho in Bangkok or at other massage institutions in Bangkok or Chiang Mai. They practice mainly Thai Massage which is most popular among tourists, and Oil Massage which is a more relaxing type of massage. Thai Massage costs generally 300 Baht per hour, Oil Massage 400 Baht per hour. Prices are written on a signboard and are not negotiable. Normally the massage lady gets only 50% of this amount, the balance goes to the owner of the land who supplies the hut, mattress, pillows, towels, and a chair.

Das Drei-Frauen-Team Phung, Pi Pon und Mama Phung macht seit drei Jahren Thai-Massage direkt am Strand von Bang Niang auf dem Grundstück von Sita Garden. Dieser Service wird von allen Gästen sehr geschätzt, kann die entspannende Massage doch gleich neben dem Strandbungalow genossen werden, ohne erst durch die Gegend laufen zu müssen. Die liebenswürdig freundliche Art der drei Frauen lässt sehr schnell eine freundschaftliche Atmosphäre entstehen, die den Urlaubsgenuss spürbar erhöht. Viele Gäste freuen sich schon monatelang darauf, bald wieder diese wunderbaren Massagen erleben zu dürfen, und das für 300 Baht pro Stunde, einen Preis, den sich jeder alle Tage leisten kann.
Die Frauen arbeiten als Freiberufler und bezahlen für die Bambushütte mit allem Zubehör eine Tagesmiete von 150 Baht an den Grundstücksbesitzer sowie eine Betreuungsgebühr von 150 Baht an die Aufseherin. Ihnen bleiben dann durchschnittlich 750 Baht pro Tag bei 3 bis 4 Massagen am Tag.
Anderswo in Khao Lak ist allerdings eine Miete von 50% der Tageseinnahmen üblich, was den Verdienst der meisten Massagefrauen auf 525 Baht pro Tag reduziert. Das klingt zwar auch noch wie ein üppiges Salär von über 15000 Baht pro Monat, ist aber bei nur 5 Monaten Saison nicht gerade viel, zumal auch die Lebenshaltungskosten in Khao Lak vergleichsweise hoch sind.
Die Frauen der Sita Beach Massage haben seit Jahren einen sehr guten Ruf und können deshalb auch einen höheren Anteil vom Massagepreis von 300 Baht beanspruchen.

Chong Fah Massage consists of 10 bamboo style massage huts next to Chong Fah Restaurant at Bang Niang Beach. The next available free masseuse is assigned to the next customer. Rates are the same as everywhere on the beach: Thai Massage 300 Baht, Oil Massage 400 Baht.

Ton Son Beach Massage are the bamboo huts behind Ton Son Restaurant at the southern end of Bang Niang Beach next to Ramada. Thai Massage costs 300 Baht, Oil Massage 400 Baht as elsewhere.

Rungwadee Massage is situated at Phetkasem Highway in the townhouse next to Saxophone Cafe. As usual in townhouses the massage places for Thai massage are downstairs, the VIP rooms with one to three massage places are upstairs. All massage ladies have several years experience and detect small muscle tensions easily, so I like their services after a hard day in front of the computer. Rungwadee Massage has a high reputation among Thais, too, who come there until late in the night for the real Thai Massage of almost two hours. The small side services like a drink before or after the massage are lacking, but the staff likes to chat with the customers in the front room.

Jomkwoan Massage is situated at Phetkasem Highway next to the R.T. Hotel. As in all massage shops in townhouses the Thai massage places are downstairs, the VIP rooms for other massage are upstairs. The masseur ladies are nice and friendly, but they change quite frequently. The oil massage is performed differently by each lady including some quite unusual sequences. Most customers are Thai men who patronize Jomkwoan Massage until late.
