Driving to the South on your own After leaving the resorts of Ban Krut behind, you continue due south on the narrow concrete road which runs along this fantastic beach. After 8 km at the edge of a picturesque lagoon where smelly waste water may disturb your senses, there is Siam Garden Beach Resort. | |
On the next concrete road, you turn left again and you arrive at the beautiful White Beach; you can follow this road along the beach until the fishing village.
Crossing the bridge on your right would take you towards Mae Ramphueng Bay (wait a moment, we'll go there later). At the bridge you go straight on and you arrive at the tiny and romantic Bo Thong Lang Bay; a fairy tale like place with clear water, picturesque rocks, fine sand and coconut palms. Local Thai families come here for picnicking under the shady trees or for dining in one of the restaurants offering inexpensive and typical Thai food.

If you happen to cross the sand bar to the left past the temple grounds, you will be surprised by another view out of the fairy tale book.
To continue to Bang Saphan, you go back and now turn left at the above mentioned bridge. That road goes first towards Mae Ramphueng Bay, which is transformed into mud flats during low tide. Even during high tide, it is not suitable for swimming here. Three kilometers inland is Bang Saphan. Altogether these were 36 km from Ban Krut to Bang Saphan -- it is really worthwhile to take that route, isn't it? |
