From Khaosan Road in Bangkok an aircon minibus leaves at 2 pm for Chumphon to the pier for the night boat to Koh Tao. Arrival in Ban Mae Hat at 6 am, 550 Baht per person including boat. Tickets for regular aircon and VIP-32 buses cost between 650 to 900 Baht (including boat).

Warning If you buy in Khaosan Road a joint ticket Bangkok – Chumphon – Koh Tao for only 150 Baht, it is assumed that you may have become a victim of professional thieves; do not leave any valuables in your luggage and always keep a lock on your backpack.

An aircon bus departs for Koh Tao from Khaosan Road at 5 pm via Chumphon, 680 Baht per person (arrives approximately at 2 am, then uncomfortable emergency accommodation in the travel agency, early morning transfer to the express boat leaving at 7 am). For the return journey the VIP bus is preferable to the uncomfortable aircon minibus; both arriving in Bangkok near the Khaosan road between 8 and 9 pm. Aircon buses leave Khaosan Road at 6 am and 9 pm to the pier for the Lomprayah Katamaran (arrival in Koh Tao at 2.30 pm and 9.30 am respectively).
