Elephant >> Baby Elephant Camp Bo Saen (BoSaen) Rates: 300 Baht The Baby Elephant Camp Bo Saen was created by Khun Nok from T-Tour in June 2015. She found a very beautiful area among the limestone rocks of Phang Nga Province adjoining the Tao Thong Waterfall. The Camp has an area of 15 rai bordered to the north by majestic Karst formations. Nok had built a corral with a special baby elephant pool so that visitors can easily go bathing with Boon Namm, the baby elephant, under supervision of his mother Jintala. Tourists can also go elephant riding on the neck of Jintala from the corral to the waterfall. The track is just 200 meters, but it is nevertheless a wonderful experience to ride high above the ground on this gentle elephant lady. Adjoining the camp is a muslim restaurant that serves exceptionally delicious local food. There is also a bungalow available for 1500 Baht per night for elephant lovers who want to stay near these giant creatures for a few days. The locals of Ban Bo Saen are very friendly muslims who love the baby elephant and the elephant mother. To visit the camp you can contact T Tour in Bang Niang, Khao Lak, on the way to the Police Boat 813. They will provide transport to the Baby Elephant Camp by minibus for 1200 Baht per person. The staff will arrange at least 4 persons travel together. The Camp charges just 50 Baht for a bundle of bananas for feeding the elephant if you come with T Tour. When you come on your own or with another tour company, entrance fee is 800 Baht per person. Riding on Jintala is charged separately. A few other attractions like cooking a local style dessert, Thai massage next to the waterfall, or a visit to the local village by 3-wheel motorcycle are also available. Beware: Some tour companies in Khao Lak sell now "Baby Elephant Tours" that take you to young elephants of 4 to 6 years. They are NOT baby elephants. In July 2015 it was renamed to "Tsunami Museum Khao Lak" and moved to the road leading to the Police Boat 813, where many more visitors are aware of its existence. The museum shows the history of tourism in the Khao Lak region. Other historical artifacts, maps, pictures and documents are also presented in the 40 square meter exhibition room. The "Tsunami Exhibition" honors the efforts of the Khao Lak people and their friends to reconstruct Khao Lak in the year following the disastrous Tsunami of December 2004. Original documents show the help of the true friends of Khao Lak, help by means of donations for specific Tsunami victims and by goods that alleviated the severe pain of effected Khao Lak residents. Videos about the Tsunami in Khao Lak are displayed. Entrance is free, a donation can be given at the discretion of visitors. The museum guide, Khun Id, can give explanations in Thai and English.
