Beach >> Bang Muang Beach (ทะเลบางม่วง) (KhaoLak) The 8 km long beach area of Bang Muang consists of a long stretch of deserted beaches named according to the access roads, e.g. Bang Lut Beach. This beautiful beach extends from Tuptawan Cape in the south to the mouth of Takua Pa River in the north. There is only one private house (Amanda and Gary) right at the beach. In former times the beach was also called Phet Beach, Diamond Beach, because during the tin mining process fairly large diamonds were found. Beach >> Bang Sak Beach (ทะเลบางสัก) (KhaoLak) Bang Sak Beach is an 8 km long sandy beach lined by huge Casuarina trees. In the southern half two resorts nestle between the highway and the beach. In the northern half a panorama road skirts the beach with several seafood restaurants on the land side and sitting arrangements on the beach side. Bang Sak Beach is historically very popular among the people of Takua Pa who come here for lunch to enjoy the great food and the breeze. Beach >> Coconut Beach (KhaoLak) Coconut Beach is the only all year round accessible beach in all of Khao Lak! Even during green season, between May and October, the water is mostly calm. The white sandy beach slopes gently into the turquoise Andaman Sea; perfect for families with children as there are no dangerous rip currents or sudden drop offs. The dream-alike lagoon with its white sandy shore is surrounded by tropical palm and Casuarina trees. Combined with a pristine, untouched appearance and breathtaking sunsets, all of the above makes Coconut Beach one of the most desirable beaches in all of Phang Nga! Khao Lak, Phang Nga Beach >>
Khuk Khak Beach (เขาหัลกออร์คิดรีสอร์ท) (KhaoLak) Khuk Khak Beach is a very beautiful shallow sandy beach to the north of the main Khao Lak beaches. It extends for more than four kilometers from Bang Niang Beach all the way to the river before Pakarang Beach. There are only three resorts on and near Khuk Khak Beach, the Orchid, Andamania and JW Marriott Resort. There are a few tiny beach restaurants which have sprung up selling simple local fare and drinks. North of the JW Marriott there is a concentration of five or six restaurant/bar/massage places, offering their services for very little money. Just south of the JW Marriott there is a larger restaurant with about 10 tables, a juice bar, a tour counter and two massage huts. From Bang Niang Beach the lagoon mouth can be crossed on foot without problems at any time. From the O2 Bar which has a large parking area that is always empty during day time, a bridge leads over the lagoon right to the beach where O2 has established a recreation area for festive evenings. The third access is the road from Khuk Khak village that ends at the Khaolak Orchid Beach Resort. Where this roads meets the sea the first time, there is a ferry service to the small bar across Khuk Khak River. 500 m further on towards the south the road meets the beach where a parking place is inviting tourists to stroll along the pristine beach. The fourth access is from the newly asphalted Marriott Road that runs straight to the beach where the one larger beach restaurant attracts customers. Access number 5 branches to the right immediately before the gate of JW Marriott and reaches the beach area with the concentration of locaol businesses. Access number 6 is from the Lakeview Resort behind Khuk Khak Temple. This narrow track is suitable for motorcycles and leads to a lonely hut on the beach where in the season a small shop might offer some services like renting deck chairs and selling drinks. The last access is a gravel road starting right beside Khuk Khak Elephant Camp and running fairly straight to a lonely bay. Khuk Khak Beach, Khao Lak, Phang Nga 82190 Beach >> White Sand Beach (ไวท์แซนด์บีช) (KhaoLak) Arguably White Sand Beach is the most beautiful beach of Khao Lak with fine white sand and crystal clear water, now decorated with many rows of deck chairs and umbrellas on private land beside the beach. For many years thousands of tourists considered Ao Thong Beach or Oaw Thong Beach in the misspelled version the most beautiful beach in the Khao Lak region. A few years ago the owner of the lone restaurant beside Sarojin Resort distributed his property among his three children. Each of them started a new restaurant. One was called White Sand, and soon the whole beach became known as White Sand Beach. As now three families had to live from the income generated by three competing restaurants, the three owners had to up with some new ideas. So they built a few bungalows behind the restaurants, all in the same typical Thai style with air conditioning but windows without mosquito screens, and all for the same price of about 1500 Baht. Income was not enough, so a new idea was born: Rental of deck chairs and umbrellas along the beach on their own properties. So up to 5 rows of deck chairs now create the real holiday feeling for those tourists who need them for a perfect holiday. Latitude: 8.73925, Longitude: 98.24315, Distance from Khao Lak Town: 12,5 km to the north Beach >> Bang Niang Beach (ทะเลบางเนียง) (KhaoLak) Bang Niang Beach was for several years the most beautiful beach of Khao Lak with a wide beach of 30 to 50 meters. The sand was sloping gently into the sea reaching swim depth after 5 to 10 meters. This changed completely after the Tsunami of December 2004, when all the beach sand was washed out into the sea with the receding waters. Since then the owners of the beach resorts are struggling to keep their land against the powers of the ocean. Many walls of varying effectiveness were built by contractors who had no clue about the force of nature. So all walls broke sooner or later, the Sudala wall even five times. In the end of 2014 the beach sand is only there during low tide so that beach hikers can walk only for 4 to 6 hours. During the other half of the day the waves are crashing into the stone and concrete walls. Bang Niang, Khao Lak, Phang Nga 82190 |
