The City Pillar Shrine is the soul of Surat Thani people. Thai people gather to worship there in the evening. There is an arched floral with lotus, marigold, amaranth and candles available for worships.

A Lak Mueang or City pillar is found in most cities of Thailand. Usually housed in a shrine which is also believed to house the city spirit deity, Chao Pho Lak Meuang, it is held in high esteem by the citizens of the town.

The City Pillar Shrine of the South Thailand provincial capital of Surat Thani is located near the river Tapi, that flows through Surat Thani town. It is at the center of a square with a well maintained garden and has a beautiful white rock surface. There are elephant figures of all sizes all over the place.
Nearby Talad Mai (“New market”) road is a well known and lively shopping district.

Wat Pho Thawas was established on 10 January 1787. It is located at 50 Baan Makhamtia, Wat Po road, T.Talad A.Muang Suratthani. Sangha Maha Nikai. With an area of 5 acres measuring 73.5 square meters 2 ngan. The principle Buddha image is in a temple lap 80 inches wide, 71 inches high, 80 inches. This Buddha image was established in the year of 1919.

Wat Tritammaram (วัดไตรธรรมาราม) (SuratThani)

Wat Tri Thummaram is located at 246/1 T.Talad A.Muang Suratthani. It is an individual definition of Maha Nikai.
Statue of Buddha with a lap width of 33 inches, the first Lord Buddha attained enlightenment, this Buddha image was constructed with concrete with a lap three feet wide 2 feet high and 4 feet 8 inches in meters. The relic was installed under Srimahapho and called ”Praphutthakhayanusorn”.

Wat Phra Yok (วัดพระโยค ) (SuratThani)

Wat Pra Yok is the oldest temple in the city of Surat Thani.
It is assumed the temple was established around 200 years ago.Pra Yok temple was built in the early Rattanakosin period (reign of King Rama I) The Buddha image of the temple (this temple located under the tree named Khoi in front of a chapel) people nearby saw the Buddha image sway so that they called it Wat Phra Yok .

Myths from people who believe that at this temple One novice cleaned the temple and then he disappeared, leaving only a robe and the red blood stain were stuck at the mouth of the Buddha image. The mercury under the chin of the Buddha image react chemically with the texture of the metal and give the effect of a red liquid coming out of the chin the same as blood. Local people believed that this was because they hadn't paid enough merit.

Wat Pattanaram (วัดพัฒนาราม) (SuratThani)

Wat Pattaram known as Wat Mai is located on Pattanaram Road, Talat Lang, Surat Thani.
The history of a monk named “Pat” was to be ordained then stay at this temple,
Wat Phra Yok for several years until 1896, after returning from a pilgrimage with his teacher. He established the temple that local people call Wat Mai. The land was previously a graveyard. It is also home for wild animals such as tigers, monkeys, lemurs, snakes and rats.

Wat Tri Thammaram There is a statue of the first lord Buddha meditating with a lap width of 33 inches, 3 meters wide, 2 feet high. There are many relics under the Sri Mahapho tree called Pra Phuttha Hoaya Memorial.
Wat Sai was established in 1931. There is a sandstone carving of Buddha enshrined here. Wat Sai has many antique ruins surrounding the temple. 



Wat Klang  is located opposite the Tri Thammaram Temple across the street from the pier. It is assumed that Wat Klang was built before 1777. There is a very old fashioned antique atmosphere surrounding this temple. A very famous old abbot, named Zon, died over 50 years ago. His body has been placed in a glass coffin behind the temple for people to worship.

Wat Phra Yok is one of the oldest temples in Surat Thani district. It is believed that this temple was built in the early Rattanakosin period (King Rama 1). In the grounds there is a bell tower, if you ring the bell it will bring you good luck and fortune.

Wat Pattanaram was named Wat Mai before. It was built by a monk, Phut Naratha. After him and his monk’s teacher, Sook have hiked. In the abandoned land behind is a graveyard which is still wilderness. Wat Pattanaram is considered an object cultural temple.

Tae Chew Puntaokong Shrine (ศาลเจ้าแต้จิ๋ว ปุนเถ่งกง) (SuratThani)

Lao Pun Tao Kong is the goddess of peace, defense and trade. Lao Pun Tao Kong god is comparable to a chief god, it is a local god who watches over the people and protects them from hardship. You can see many of the shrines in the market and local residences.

"Pun Tao Kong" is Tio Chew Language, in Mandarin, it is called "PERNTOWKONG" or "PERNTOWKANG" Many Chinese academics have opinions that Pun Tao Kong god and Taperkong (Tuapaekong) is the same god of navigation in the reign of the Song Dynasty, called "Towkong", but in Penang, the people call this god "Perntowkong", in the Philippines, they call this god "Perntowkang"

Puntaokong Shrine
Puntaokong or Tio Chew Shrine has a history that created almost 100 years ago. There has renovated always. This shrine is located across from the pier to Koh Samui, Koh Phangan and Koh Tao. The Shrine has transportation that comfortable to come as a pillar. Because the staffs of shrine has been preparing for the oils, flowers and candles in unison. Ong Hok Kian Shrine
Ong Hok Kian Shrine was built for the people to remember their ancestors and the three Hokkien gods who came from the Hokkien district in China. After invite the gods have joined the other two is the Guanyin and Tubtim.
Hailam Shrine Ban Don
Hailam Shrine Ban Don has Choa Mae Hma Joa Neanea or choa mae Tubtim as a chief god in this shrine. On the right hand is Gwang Tee or Guan Ao  statue that Hai Lam people respected, the 108 109 is located on the left hand of shrine. Otherwise, this shrine is the Hai Lam peoples center.
Gee Gong shrine
Gee Gong shrine, also known as the Moral Foundation on Sri Phoon Phin Street in Surat Thani. (Tek Goa Gee Zoo kho) is a god of loyalty. Four angles are located on the second floor. The ground floor is the office of the shrine they have many sacred souvenirs from China for sale.
Chao Poi Sian Shrine
or “Mutthitajit Tham foundation” is located in front of the city. On the second floor there is a statue of the god Chao Poi Sian, Sam Phob Buddha and Chao Mae Kuan Aim made from white granite in front of the foundation high 18 meter to the people scarified for their wish. Has coffin donation also. This foundation is next to Coliseum mall.
Tai Hong Kong Shrine
known as Kuson Satthajit foundation Surat Thani. Luang Pu Tai Hong Kong is the master god, have many people come to merit. To donated coffins to the death people without relative. Include supporting to the volunteer Rescue Foundation Charity in Surat Thani too.
Mercy foundation
Mercy foundation or shrine Khong Meaw is the place where several Buddhist peoples come for practice. On the ground floor there is a statue of Khong Jue. On the first floor is the prophet of Taoism which is called Jee Kong, also is enshrined three of Buddha Prophets Sri Metteyya Trai, JeeKong Buddha, Prophet Chun Tha Ra Pun Ya, Gong Wu.  There is also a museum Uttara Tham.
Pae Kong Puang Petch Shrine
Chao Pae Kong Shrine is located close to the Polytechnic College, Surat Thani, was the vegetable gardener farmers respected very much in the past because this god has sacred on water or digging artesian well in the past. Local peoples have groundwater for living and agriculture. So there is a shrine to pray and seek blessings of the searching eyes water source that has it.
