The small town Chaiya has a post office, a hospital and a train station. Opposite the train station is a small park. There are five active temples and two ancient ruined chedis. One hotel is in the centre of town, another near the junction with highway H41 and a third right at the beach. Every year in the last week of July a colourful street festival takes place in the street leading to the train station. The participants are very friendly and happy to get their picture taken.
