Golden Triangle Cruise (GoldenTriangle) You can take a longtail speedboat along the Mae Khong, the price is about 400 Baht per hour per boat. For another 40 Baht they drop you off at Don Sak a small Laotian island. You cannot even get into the village itself but buy souvenirs at the various stands or try spicy Laotian food at one of the food stalls.

Golden Triangle Asian Elephant Foundation (GoldenTriangle) The Golden Triangle Asian Elephant Foundation is one of the most important elephant foundation and conservation center in Thailand. The privately run foundation finances itself with donation and through the Anantara Resort group. The Golden Triangle Elephant Foundation closely works together with the Lampang Elephant Conservation Center and the Elephant Hospital in Lamphang. The aim is to get elephants off the streets and also provide a living for the mahouts and their families. The Golden Triangle Asian Elephant Foundation is a unique experience. Mahout Courses are offered along with elephant riding, observing baby elephants taking their baths. The Golden Triangle was once infamous worldwide for its poppy fields, drug smugglers, and opium warlords. Throughout the 1960s to early 1990s, the Golden Triangle supplied most of the world's heroin. At the Hall of Opium, visitors learn about the 5000 year history of opium. When opium was used as a healing drug and how its use spread throughout the world, how imperialist expansion used opium in the economic colonization and control of China, and how it eventually came to dominate in the Golden Triangle.
