Ga, the owner of the former Ga Restaurant, has opened her restaurant in a new location 30 meters south with the new name My Style Restaurant. As the local cooks from Bang Niang came with her, the same first class authentic Thai dishes are prepared. The only sacrifice to authenticity is the reduced use of chillies and peppers. So guests do not run away in search for water to cool the heat. For years permanent guests in Bang Niang make it a rule to eat at least twice a week in Ga's restaurant in reverence to her excellent cooking standard.

Nom's Family Restaurant is situated beside Phetkasem Highway. They have also bungalows for rent that were formerly called Father and Son Bungalows.

Orchid Cafe at the northern end of Khao Lak Center is the cheapest Thai Food restaurant in town. Beside Phad Thai the full assortment of fast prepared Thai dishes is available. They all cost only 40 to 50 Baht, for foreigners and Thais the same. There are 3 salas in the garden, a massive table in front and a few wooden tables in the nicely decorated restaurant. The owner is very friendly and helpful.

Sala Thai is a reasonably priced Thai restaurant located next to Nang Tong Supermarket and opposite Som Sri Restaurant. The very large menu consists of 300 dishes which are served in generous portions with beautiful decoration. This is standard Thai cuisine and the menu prices are average (meat dishes from 90 Baht). Beef and chicken dishes, however, can be a bit hard to chew. Exceptionally fast service, many tables and an outside sitting area as well. Very popular place – even at the beginning of the low season every second table was occupied!

Sun Star Siam is situated opposite of Khao Lak Laguna Resort. The food here is the standard Khao Lak fare, nothing to remember. Prices are in the upper range. Only the lady owner speaks decent English, so communication may get somewhat difficult.

Bella Ciao is run by two enterprising young fellows who intend to make this restaurant the cheapest Italian Restaurant in Khao Lak, but nevertheless serving authentic Italian dishes with authentic Italian materials. Their restaurant is open until midnight for drinks and meals. You may also order a pizza from anywhere in Khao Lak, and they will be happy to deliver the pizza to you. Real Italian icecream in four flavors is available from Grand Italia, the original Italian icecream factory in Phuket. A ball is 50 or 60 Baht.

Dee Seafood Restaurant is situated right on the main road about 50 m from Phu Khao Lak. Several nicely decorated tables, many beautiful orchids and a very friendly service create a pleasant ambiance. The menu offers many Thai dishes (starting from 70 Baht), and the portions are very generous. Fast service, average price range; only dishes with squid are overpriced (140 Baht).

Khao Lak Seafood Restaurant serves my favorite fish dish in Khao Lak: barracuda fillet in banana leaves. The steamed fish stays juicy and firm inside the banana leaf. I order it with a large glass of Nam Manao, freshly pressed lime juice, very delicious. The restaurant is newly built and I prefer to sit on the upper terrace and enjoy a nice windy breeze.

Lamuan Seafood is a very popular Seafood Restaurant in the center of Khao Lak Center beside the main road. The owner Lamuan started her restaurant over 20 years ago at Nang Thong Beach. She is an always joyful lady who recognizes all her guests from many years ago. The food in Lamuan Seafood is excellent. I enjoy especially the steamed fish with lemon sauce and her unique Massaman Curry. The drinking coconuts are from her own plantation, their taste is among the best to be found in Khao Lak.

Kinaree Bakery (also spelled Kinnaree) has quite a varied assortment of baked goods. The owner learned from the legendary Austrian lady Marianne who introduced European style baking to Khao Lak. Kinaree is also a restaurant that serves inexpensive snacks. At one side is Capsule Pharmacy, to the other a clothes and souvenir shop.

The Cafe Kantary was established in November 2012 beside the main road of Khao Lak Center across from Viking Steak House. It offers a large variety of high class baked goods which are produced in the bakery of Kantary Resort at White Sand Beach. The price level is not low but the value for money is good. There are 4 tables in the airconditioned room and 6 tables outside in the courtyard. The icecream is of Italian quality.

Khao Lak also has a McDonald's! A civilized achievement which makes the locals quite proud. Food from McDonalds is seen as something of an affordable luxury, an item of prestige in Thailand. It is not possible to explain to a Thai person that tourists do not really have the same opinion about that. The prices are standard for western fast food in Thailand; however it costs twice as much as local Thai food. Nevertheless, Thais enjoy the various meals on offer together with their children. The bill gets paid no matter the price. Even the expats living in Khao Lak love McDonald's, naturally, for the happiness of their children. The parents go with their kids though perhaps they would prefer to eat some nice dinner at a much lower price.

The noodle soup stall Go Pong is the most popular restaurant in Khao Lak Center. It is situated opposite Jai Restaurant right by the side of the highway. A handful bamboo huts and a few tables are always occupied in the evenings, customers are queuing up to be seated. The food is of excellent quality, especially the chicken soup which is regularly sold out around 8 o'clock.
