Chumphon South Beaches: Had Sai Ree

Sai Ree Beach is a popular day trip and picnic site for Thais. Hat Sai Ree lies 5 km to the south of Paradonpap Beach (by pick up 20 Baht).
You can find here a very relaxing and provincial ambience. Only during the weekends, all the beach restaurants are open and they rent many beach chairs, umbrellas and pumped up tires for bathing. The dishes offered in the seafood restaurant "Karakhed" on the beach are especially recommended. Very delicious are fresh shrimps with sauce and the prawn cakes.

In the first part of the bay, you can see the non-commissioned torpedo boat "HTMS Chumphon". Above it is the shrine of the Prince of Chumphon in a highly exposed location. The founder of the Thai Navy is honored here, as on a smaller scale in many other beach locations, like a saint. Here in Chumphon is a festival given in his honor from 19 - 25th December every year.

From Chao Muang Hill at the end of the road, you can enjoy a beautiful view of the coastline and the offshore islands. It is possible to go hiking in the nature reserve without a guide. There is a path lined with botanical information and you find several other activities where you can learn about nature. However, all the signs and information is in Thai language.

The Sairee Beach Cabanas resort is very quiet in a wonderful setting. To get there you have to drive down a steep access road. The 20 rooms in bungalows and row houses are comfortable and clean. They are equipped with the standard amenities. The view from the bungalows towards the island Koh Rang Nok in front is breathtaking. The private sandy beach is shaded by some huge trees. Total privacy is offered in the "Cabana Neung" to the left of the property. The restaurant serves Thai food and a large variety of seafood. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Diving equipment is available.
